About Melanie

Hello, I am Melanie Deckman, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. In addition, I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Florida and a Master of Social Work from Barry University. My experience as a clinician has been with clients suffering from both mental health and substance abuse issues. I have worked in both community mental health and the private sector, across all populations and demographics. As a psychotherapist, I have provided clinical services in all levels of care including residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient settings.

The clinical interventions I use with my patients are all evidence-based practices. My empathic and warm style enables me to easily establish a therapeutic alliance with my clients. My main goal as a psychotherapist is to build rapport and create a safe environment in which my patients can engage in self-exploration and self-determination. My client-centered and solution-focused approach provides my clients with the ability to problem-solve and increase adaptive coping skills in order to move toward resolution and live a happier life.

I look forward to seeing you soon!
